KNOT RELAY DRILL

SSS-11 crew members practice their nautical knots for a timed event.

The Chief Petty Officer demonstrates.
COMPASS and RELATIVE BEARINGS

Skipper Chuck Hoey points out the next exercise.

Drawing a card with a compass point or bearing, crew members must then place the card on the correct dot. A mistake can mess up the rest of the crew that follows.
ROWING

2 member crew must row to a specified bouy, change positions and row back against the clock.
RING BOUY TOSS

It's tougher than it looks! You must toss the ring close to a simulated victim, but if you actually hit him with the ring, he drowns!
